Abstract
Porous silicon based two-dimensional photonic crystals were designed. These consist in nanometric porous silicon rods embedded into a silicon matrix arranged as to form a triangular lattice. The photonic band structure for the TM (magnetic field in-plane) and TE (electric field in-plane) modes was calculated as a function of the radius of the rods, finding a notable dependence on this parameter. In addition, the component of the magnetic field distribution perpendicular to the two dimensional plane for the first eight TE bands was analyzed for increasing radius of the rods..
