Abstract

The thermal resistance of poly(urethane lactate) (PUL) doped with different concentrations of Er3+ was investigated by chemiluminescence under isothermal and nonisothermal procedures. The modifications in thermal strength of these formulations are discussed in relation to erbium concentration. For comparison, several other polymers (polyolefins, EVA, polyamide 6, polyacrylates) were selected. Onset oxidation times are compared. The chemiluminescence mechanism for the thermal degradation of PUL doped with Er3+ is proposed..
