Abstract
The dielectric constant , and dielectric loss , of zinc phthalocyanine (ZnPc) thin films, are investigated in the frequency range 1–100 kHz and within the temperature range 293 – 415 K. Both the dielectric constant and dielectric loss were found to increase with temperature and decrease with frequency. The Cole – Cole plots have been used to determine the molecular relaxation time . Results reveal that the temperature-dependence of is a thermally activated process. The optical dielectric constant was found to increase with temperature. The frequency dependence of the impedance spectra plotted in the complex plane shows semicircles. The system could be represented by an equivalent circuit of a bulk resistance in series with a parallel surface resistance-capacitance combination. Transition in ZnPc films from the -phase to the -phase has been observed at ~390 K, in molecular relaxation time , optical dielectric constant , and dc conductivity dc..
