Abstract
Current topics of photodarkening and photoinduced volume change are briefly reviewed. To get more insight into these phenomena which can be regarded as structural fluidity, the effects of d.c. electric fields on photodarkening in amorphous As2Se3 films are examined. It is observed that application of an electric field accelerates photodarkening, depending on the magnitude and polarity of the field. The results suggest that charge separation between photoexcited electrons and holes is an important factor for photoinduced fluidity to occur, supporting an electronic charging model of photodarkening and photoinduced volume change, as recently formulated..
