Abstract
The glass transition has been studied by novel StepScan DSC technique (Perkin-Elmer). This one allows separate by way of equilibrium steps fast reversible processes from slow kinetic ones. The reversible part of the glass transition has been the subject of this study. It was found that this part could be regarded as a temperature dependence of equilibrium glass«undercooled melt conversion, a. Two-parametric semi-empirical model a=1-exp( (T/T’g)n) was proposed. Parameter T’g corresponds to the inflection point of S-shaped a vs. T curve. The steepness parameter, n, depends inversely on the glass transition temperature. The results obtained means that untransformed glass and undercooled melt coexist in the glass transition region..
