Abstract

Tungsten cathode activation using a carbon vapor discharge is described. The carbon plasma or carbon vapors are generated nearby tungsten cathode as a result of the bombardment of carbon anode by an accelerated beam. Cathode surface analysis prove that the activated cathode is formed from a mixture of tungsten carbonede and tungsten. Comparative volt ampere characteristics of the cathode electron emission of treated and not traded electrodes clearly proved the activation of the cathode..
