A novel diagnosis method for hydropower unit rotor with coupling faults

Abstract

According to the coupling faults of mass eccentricity and misalign ment, the paper presents a novel fault diagnosis method for hydropower unit rotor based on the multi scale morphology spectrum and morphological spectrum entropy. Such a method can be used to analyze the tested signals, which are divided into the stable pe riodic motion, periodic rubbing motion and chaotic motion. It is demonstrated that the morphology spectrum form and entropy value are different, and the characteristics of vibration efficiency under different condition can be identified very well. The pres ent study therefore offers a methodology for the improvements of the safety, reliability and economical efficiency of hydropower unit rotors.
