Abstract

In this work we present a new route for rapid synthesis of CuInS2 nanocrystals and microspheres in solution at low temperature and ambient pressure using EDTA-based complexing agents and anhydrous glycerol as solvent. The synthesis experiments were carried out using an experimental set-up which permits sample extraction during the synthesis. The influence of the complexing agent type and reaction time on the morphology and composition of the final products is studied. Following the evolution of phase formation and growth morphologies with the reaction time, a possible growth mechanism of nanocrystals and microspherical nanocrystalline superstructures is proposed..
