Abstract
The work proposes the role of Fibre Bragg Grating in improving the performance of a 20Gbps Free Space Optical communication link. The proposed link is analysed under severe atmospheric attenuation of 100 dB/km and additional signal dispersion effects. The incorporation of FBG provides wavelength-dependent optical compensation that reduces dispersion-induced spectral and temporal distortion, while optical amplification compensates for the severe power loss introduced by the FSO channel. Furthermore, the proposed link operates at the 1550 nm wavelength and hence supports the compatibility with existing optical communication infrastructures. The results demonstrate that the optimized FBG implementation improves transmission performance while offering a compact, passive, and potentially cost-effective optical compensation solution for FSO communication systems..
