Abstract

In this work, we present a new approach for gear-oil analysis, based on Raman spectroscopy and subsequent multivariate data analysis. The scattered Raman signal was collected by a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrometer. The results of the multivariate data analysis applied to the collected spectra are compared to the ones obtained by analysing the IRSpectra of the same samples. Correlations with different parameters, e.g. Total Acid Number (TAN) and element concentrations, are performed and discussed..
