Abstract

This paper reports optical properties of copper doped Na2Zn(PO4)Cl phosphor prepared by wet-chemical. The phosphor was characterized by photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy, Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) -Visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. Incorporating Cu+ ions in the Na2Zn(PO4)Cl host resulted in blue emission peaking at 438 nm under 357 nm excitation. The FT-IR spectrum revealed the characteristic vibrational bands of the prepared phosphor material. Band gap was calculated from UV-diffuse reflectance spectra. The investigated halo-phosphate Na2Zn(PO4)Cl:Cu+ may be a good candidate as blue phosphor.
