Abstract

The Ca7-xSrxSi2P2O16:Eu3+ red phosphors were prepared by the sol-gel process and the phase and photoluminescence properties of the prepared phosphors were respectively characterized by the X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) analysis and photoluminescence analysis. The characterization results indicated that the single Ca7Si2P2O16 with hexagonal crystal structure was successfully synthesized at 1500 °C for 5 h. Under ultraviolet excitation, Ca7-xSrxSi2P2O16:Eu3+ showed several absorption peaks ranging from 210 nm to 550 nm and a broad red emission band with the peak at 617 nm. In addition, we also explored the influences of different concentrations of Eu3+ ions and Sr2+ ions on the emission intensity and the phases. The results demonstrated that the phosphor was a better red light-emitting material..
