Abstract

A series of phosphors Ba(1−2x)LnxNaxBPO5 (Ln = Eu3+, Tb3+, Dy3+) with different x value were synthesized by using a solid-state reaction technique at high-temperature, and their photoluminescence properties were investigated in details. The f-f transitions of Eu3+ , Tb3+ and Dy3+ ions in the host lattice were assigned and discussed. The excitation and emission spectra indicate that BaBPO5:Eu3+ , BaBPO5:Tb3+ and BaBPO5:Dy3+ can be effectively excited by near-ultraviolet, and exhibit reddish orange, yellowish green, and white light emission, respectively. The influence of the doping concentration on the relative emission intensity of Eu3+/Tb3+/Dy3+ in BaBPO5 was also investigated. The present work suggests BaBPO5: Ln, Na+ (Ln = Eu3+, Tb3+, Dy3+) phosphor can be a potential candidate as an UV-convertible phosphor for white light-emitting diodes (LEDs)..
