The Scintillation properties of Pr3+ doped and Pr3+ , Ce3+ doubly doped LaBr3

Abstract

Pr3+ singly doped, and Pr3+、Ce3+ doubly doped single crystals, LaBr3:0.25% Pr3+, LaBr3:0.5% Pr3+, LaBr3:2% Pr3+, LaBr3: (4%Pr3+, 2.6%Ce3+) and LaBr3: (8%Pr3+, 2.6%Ce3+), were grown with vertical Bridgman process. The scintillation properties including energy resolution, light output and time profile, the luminescence, and mechanical properties of the single crystals were measured and compared. While Pr3+ is doped uniquely, the best energy resolution, largest light output and longest principal decay time are acquired while the concentration of Pr3+ is lowest to 0.25%. While Pr3+ and Ce3+ are doubly doped, the scintillation properties are improved compared with Pr3+ singly doped LaBr3 and the scintillator are strengthened compared with the Ce3+ singly doped LaBr3..
